Career

Helen Glover began her rowing career in July 2008. She was accepted into the Sporting Giants initiative and placed on the GB Rowing Team’s “Start” program at Minerva Bath Rowing Club in Bath, Somerset, under coach Paul Stannard. She finished fourth in the British Indoor Rowing Championships on October 26, 2008, and she also won the Bernard Churcher Trophy in the senior single scull at the Henley Women’s Regatta in 2009.
In February 2010, she left her teaching position to row with the Reading University eight, finishing third in the Women’s Eights Head of the River Race.
She finished fifth in the GB Rowing Squad Senior Trials, earning a spot on the team, Lottery money, and a seat in the women’s coxless pair in April.
